Duration: 2 years fulltime and 3 years part-time
The aim of the programme is to equip students with advanced knowledge, concepts and skills in civil engineering to be applied in analysing problems and proposing solutions to the challenges facing infrastructure development across the regions.
The programme has five pathways namely:
• Water Engineering
• Structural Engineering
• Transportation Engineering
• Geotechnical Engineering
• Construction Management
On completion of this programme students are able to:
• Execute systems for the acquisition and collation of information through the effective use of appropriate resources
• Solve complex civil engineering problems
• Model civil engineering systems
• Predict behaviour of civil engineering systems using appropriate simulations
• Process data acquired from the systems
• Apply critical thinking in problem identification and solving
• Evaluate the scientific value of information from different knowledge resources, including legal information systems
• Conduct research, interpret data and effectively communicate findings
Candidates to be admitted into first year of the Master of Science in Civil Engineering should possess a Bachelor of Science (honours) or Bachelor of Civil Engineering with a strong pass from a recognised university. Candidates with a pass (50%) must have at least 1 year of work-related experience.
