Duration: 2.5 years and 4 years part-time
This is a research-based degree programme aiming at training MPhil students to undertake civil engineering related research, and to be part of an international community of scholars.
On completion of this programme students are able to:
• Identify researchable civil engineering problems
• Develop theoretical concepts, methodologies and techniques for solving complex civil engineering problems.
• Use appropriate software to accrue and interpret data to identify the most appropriate intervention and facilitate the decision-making process.
• Publish research in peer-referred journals.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the processes for acquiring funding and evaluation of research.
• Execute systems for the acquisition and collation of information through the effective use of appropriate resources.
• Demonstrate ability to commercialise scientific findings through innovation
Candidates to be admitted into first year of the MPhil in Civil Engineering should possess one of the following qualifications:
• A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or any construction-related programme from an accredited university with a minimum of a credit.
• A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or any construction related programme with a strong pass and two years’ work experience.
• An honours degree in Civil Engineering or any construction related programme from an accredited university with a minimum of second class.
• An honours degree in Civil Engineering or construction related programme from an accredited university with a third class and one-year work experience in a relevant field
