Duration: 3 years

Programme Summary

The aim of the programme is to equip students with relevant knowledge and skills in civil engineering at technician level to support the development, maintenance and management of building and civil engineering infrastructure. On completion of this programme students are able to:
Conduct civil engineering experiments.
Conduct civil engineering investigations for well-defined problems.
Draft construction detailing using CAD.
Manage construction site
Use up-to-date surveying techniques in constructing civil engineering structures

Entry requirements

Normal entry: Year 1
i. MSCE or O-Level with six credits including English, Mathematics, Physical Science/General Science; o
ii. A-level with a grade of at least C in English, Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry

Mature entry: Year 2
i. City and Guilds Advanced Diploma or its equivalent in Engineering with at least 4 credits at MSCE that includes in English, Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry and two years post qualification experience. ii. Diploma in science or engineering related programme with at least 4 credits at MSCE that includes in English, Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry and two years post qualification experience.

Career Prospects
A civil engineering diplomate can work in public and private sectors as Civil/Highway/Structural/Water Technician or Inspector of works.
